Delhi Government Launches Advanced Anti-Smog Gun Vehicles to Combat Industrial Air Pollution

Delhi, 23 May 2025 — The Delhi Government, in collaboration with DSIIDC, is stepping up efforts to control industrial air pollution by deploying eight GPS-enabled hydraulic anti-smog gun trucks equipped with water sprinklers across key industrial areas. This move aims to significantly reduce airborne dust and improve air quality in Delhi’s major industrial zones.

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that the new vehicles, which run on CNG, are capable of spraying fine mist over a horizontal distance of 30 meters with a 330-degree rotation. These trucks also feature horizontal sprinklers that cover roads alongside, using at least 1,500 liters of water per hour to suppress dust effectively.

The initiative follows directives from the Chief Minister of Delhi and is part of a broader government strategy to balance industrial growth with environmental protection. The vehicles will operate in two daily shifts totaling eight hours — early morning from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM, and a four-hour non-peak afternoon window.

DSIIDC currently maintains similar anti-smog measures in the Bawana and Narela industrial areas with eight water sprinklers and three anti-smog guns. Building on this success, the new deployment will extend to Patparganj, Okhla Phase-III, A Block & S Block Phase-II, Jhilmil, Nangloi, Udyog Vihar, Badli, and Bhorgarh. Additionally, two vehicles will be reserved for industrial areas managed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, “Our government is committed to promoting industrial development while safeguarding the environment. We are implementing concrete measures to reduce industrial waste and improve infrastructure, enabling businesses to grow responsibly. Sustainable development remains a key priority under the vision for a developed Delhi.”

This project, set to run for ten months excluding the monsoon period, highlights the Delhi Government’s focus on innovative and eco-friendly solutions to ensure sustainable urban living and cleaner air for all residents.
