Girl rushed to hospital after being knocked down as road closed

The girl was rushed to Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for treatment after she was hit by a car in Irvine.

A young girl has been rushed to hospital after she was hit by a car in Irvine.

Emergency services raced to Middleton Road at around 5pm on Tuesday following reports of a serious crash involving a car and the young girl.


She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for treatment. Her condition is not yet known.


The driver of the car was uninjured.

Middleton Road has been closed between Bensley Rise and Burns Crescent while police carry out investigations at the scene.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area if possible.

A Police Scotland statement read: “Middleton Road in Irvine is closed after a crash involving a car and an 11-year-old child.

“Around 5pm we received a report of a collision and the girl was taken to Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for treatment. The driver of the car was not injured.

“The road is closed from Bensley Rise to Burns Crescent and road users should avoid the area if possible.”
